Calculating the speed of light using a microwave

In this Stage 5 unit students will use a microwave to analyse microwave electromagnetic radiation and approximate the speed of light.

Students can submit an experimental report that documents their activity and the results obtained.

Target hours for completion

2–3 hours.

Sound waves

Stage 5 – LFH – 2-3 hours – Students will explore energy transfer through different mediums using wave and particle models.

Going nuclear

Stage 5 – Students are guided to complete a short investigation into the considerations of siting a nuclear power station and then submitting a brief report and reflection.
