Planning, programming and assessing Physical Activity and Sports Science
Resources to help you plan, program and assess Physical Activity and Sports Science (PASS) in Years 7–10.
Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 (2025) is a Stage 4/5 board developed elective course that equips students with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to enhance their own and others’ performance and engagement in physical activity and sport.
Through active participation in physical activity, students learn about movement and performance across a diverse range of contexts, and deepen their understanding of the benefits of an active lifestyle from personal, social, and cultural perspectives. Through a strengths-based approach, students explore how physical activity and sport can foster social connections, promote inclusion, and contribute to a stronger, more cohesive community, and develop and refine essential self-management and interpersonal skills, including communication, collaboration, leadership, goal-setting, and problem-solving.
Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 Syllabus (2025)
The Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 Syllabus (2025) is to be taught in NSW high schools from 2028.

There are a range of implementation models (see Models of curriculum implementation – secondary). The department recommends a staggered implementation to ensure continuity of learning for Years 7–10. It is recommended for the Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 (2025) syllabus that:
- in 2025 to 2027, teachers will engage with the syllabus, and plan and prepare for implementation of the curriculum

Additional support and information is available for school leaders supporting the implementation of the new syllabus on the Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 Syllabus (2025) – information for school leaders page.
Teaching and learning resources
The following resources have been developed to assist teachers in creating learning that is contextualised to their classroom.
These resources can be used as a basis for the teacher’s own program, assessment, or scope and sequence, or as an example of how the Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10 Syllabus (2025) could be implemented. Teachers should adapt resources to best suit their students' diverse needs.
These scope and sequences are provided as sample frameworks and are suggested guides that can be adapted and adopted to best suit the specific needs and context of your school.
