Narrabeen North outside school hours care service suspended immediately due to safety concerns

The NSW Early Learning Commission has suspended the service approval for Narrabeen North Public School P&C Before & After School Care due to serious non-compliance and safety concerns, requiring the service to immediately cease providing education and care.

The Commission, which regulates early learning services in NSW, has immediately suspended this service following serious breaches related to inadequate supervision, failure to report serious incidents, incomplete mandatory training for staff and failure to maintain records including Working with Children Checks.

The suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place for three months from Friday, 26 June 2026.

There is no current evidence to suggest any child has been involved in a specific incident that caused them direct harm. However, the Commission has determined that the service must close its doors and rectify the issues identified to ensure there is no risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children before they will be allowed to reopen.

An investigation is ongoing and the Commission may take further compliance action.

The Commission's Information and Enquiries team is available to support families who may need assistance finding alternative education and care. The team can be contacted on 1800 619 113 or via email at information@earlylearningcommission.nsw.gov.au, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

NSW Early Learning Commissioner Daryl Currie said:

“We hold all early childhood education and care providers to the highest standards and act decisively when children's safety is compromised. We will not wait for harm to occur in these situations.

“Our decision to suspend this service was not taken lightly and occurred after months of support from the Commission, and failures of the provider to respond to serious escalating compliance actions.

“We acknowledge the impact service suspensions have on families and will work closely with the NSW Department of Education to support the school community.

“Where children's safety is at risk, we will not hesitate to take strong regulatory action to protect them."
