Greystanes Hilltop Childcare Centre suspended immediately due to ongoing non-compliance

The NSW Early Learning Commission has suspended the service approval for Hilltop Childcare Centre - Greystanes in Western Sydney due to concerns relating to non-compliance and inadequate reporting, requiring the service to immediately cease providing education and care.

The Commission, which regulates early learning services in NSW, immediately suspended this service following ongoing breaches of the National Law, including failure to maintain records and report serious incidents, and inadequate staffing and training.

The suspension took effect on 1 July and will remain in place for 6 months.

There is no current evidence to suggest any child has been involved in a specific incident that caused them direct harm. However, the Commission has determined that the service must close its doors and rectify the issues identified to ensure there is no risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children before they will be allowed to reopen.

An investigation is ongoing and the Commission may take further compliance action where required to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.

The Commission's Information and Enquiries team is available to support families who may need assistance finding alternative education and care. The team can be contacted on 1800 619 113 or via email at information@earlylearningcommission.nsw.gov.au, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

NSW Early Learning Commissioner, Daryl Currie said:

“The safety, wellbeing and rights of children are at the heart of every decision we make and where serious concerns are identified, the Commission will take decisive regulatory action.

“Our decision to suspend Greystanes Hilltop Childcare Centre was not taken lightly and occurred after a visit by the Commission identified multiple concerns.

“We recognise that a service suspension can be disruptive for families, however all providers must place the best interests and safety of children above all else."
