The 2026–29 grant rounds for Ninganah No More and Aboriginal Families as Teachers programs have been awarded. Learn more about the programs and the communities where they are being delivered.

Ninganah No More

The Ninganah No More program aims to increase the number of early childhood services across NSW providing access to Aboriginal languages and to support culturally safe and responsive early childhood education and care (ECEC) in NSW. It provides an opportunity for Aboriginal culture and identity to be nurtured in the earliest stage of formal education across NSW. This recognises the importance of cultural identity and the role it plays in children's development and learning outcomes.

The grants round for the 2026–29 program of Ninganah No More resulted in 78 successful applications, enabling delivery in 21 language regions throughout NSW.

Aboriginal Families as Teachers

The Aboriginal Families as Teachers program aims to empower Aboriginal families to build a developmentally supportive home learning environment and increase access and engagement in age-appropriate learning for Aboriginal children.

This program focuses on working directly with children and families, and collaborating with early learning services to strengthen age-appropriate learning and access for children aged 0–5 years. It supports participation for children in quality, culturally strong early childhood education programs. It provides funding to deliver a structured 5-day early childhood education program for Aboriginal children and families.

The grants round for the 2026–29 program of Aboriginal Families as Teachers resulted in 13 successful applications which will be delivered in 34 communities throughout NSW.
