Skateboards, foot scooters and rollerblades
Skateboards, foot scooters, and rollerblades can be used on footpaths unless signs indicate they are not permitted.
When riding on a footpath, riders should keep left and give way to pedestrians. Riders should slow down or dismount in busy areas.
On shared paths that have separate sections for bicycles and pedestrians, riders should use the bicycle section and keep clear of cyclists.
Helmets and protective gear should be worn.
Foot scooters, skateboards and rollerblades may only be used on roads during daylight hours. They are not permitted on roads with:
- a speed limit over 50 km/h
- a dividing line or median strip
- multiple lanes travelling in the same direction.
Transport for NSW does not recommend the use of foot scooters, skateboards and rollerblades on the road for school-aged or younger children.
Electric scooters or skateboards can't be registered and are not allowed in public spaces, only on private land.
