Consultation
Why it’s important
Consultation and engagement helps us better understand what is important to people with disability, how decisions are made, and what influences those decisions.
We are committed to ensuring that we consult effectively with people with disability. Our Interim Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is designed for ongoing consultation with staff and the community.
We will create pathways so that people with disability, and those who support or care for them, can have their voices heard in the clearest way by the people who can act on their concerns.
How we’ll do it
The department sought feedback on a draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2029 from a diverse range of stakeholders across the department and the broader disability community, including unions, professional associations, staff and student representative groups, and key NSW Government Stakeholders, such as the NSW Disability Council and Disability Strategy Reference Group.
In order to more comprehensively engage with the feedback we received, the department has committed to releasing this Interim DIAP and continuing the rich and constructive conversations that started through our initial consultation process, as we work towards a final DIAP to be released by the end of September 2026.
