The Road Safety Education team recently had the pleasure of supporting Hayes Park Public School with their school podcast, a student-led platform designed to keep the school community informed and engaged.
For their latest episode, the student leadership team explored the increasingly prevalent topic of e-bikes. With e-bikes gaining popularity among young people, they present both new opportunities and challenges for schools and families.
“We started the Hayes Park Podcast as a way to engage the school community and provide a medium for students to be exposed to podcast making. We decided to do a podcast on e-bikes as it had been an issue that students had been talking about around the school, and we wanted to inform the community about practical tips when buying and riding an e-bike, and how to stay safe on an e-bike.”
Mr Morrison, teacher at Hayes Park Public School
The students interviewed their local Road Safety Education Officer asking insightful questions around e-bikes and how parents can help their children be safe and responsible riders.
The podcast is a great example of how schools can empower students to lead meaningful conversations about real-world issues, highlighting the value of student voice when raising awareness and promoting safety in their school community.
