Joint use of school facilities and land
The department welcomes partnerships with external organisations to develop or upgrade school facilities or land that can be mutually beneficial for students and the community.
Joint use project
An example of a joint use project or agreement is when a council and the department jointly invest to fund the construction of a new synthetic oval and change rooms on school grounds. The oval is licenced to the council for use outside of when the school is using it, and operated as a usual school facility during school-use hours. For more details see section 1.7 of the Sharing of School Facilities procedures.

Establishing a joint use project agreement
A Principal who receives a proposal for a joint use project must consult with the Director Educational Leadership and refer the proposal to Community Infrastructure. Community Infrastructure will lead the assessment of the proposal on behalf of the department.
Parties interested in submitting a proposal can use the Community Partnership Proposal form .
Joint use agreements may also be initiated by School Infrastructure in consultation with the Director Educational Leadership and Principal.
Proposals considered viable are promoted by the department as an Expression of Interest. Community Infrastructure is responsible for managing the expression of interest process and preparing any subsequent agreement with a successful proponent.
The principal is responsible for managing the facilities according to the joint use project agreement and for advising School Infrastructure of any issues relating to the implementation of the agreement.
