The department offers the following professional learning opportunities to help school staff build the knowledge and skills needed to support high-quality professional experience (PEX) for pre-service teachers:

Pre-service teacher onboarding information session

This session provides step-by-step guidance on onboarding pre-service teachers for professional experience placements. It is designed for department staff only, including school administration managers, PEX coordinators and other staff involved in inducting pre-service teachers.

About this session

This session covers key processes such as probity screening, verifying mandatory training and granting access to department IT systems. It will also include time for questions and answers to address any specific queries.

This professional learning is for department staff only and supports PEX coordinators to effectively coordinate high-quality professional experience placements.

About this professional learning

By completing this learning, PEX coordinators will be able to:

  • describe the key functions for coordinating professional experiences
  • select strategies to support pre-service teachers and supervising teachers
  • access induction and onboarding checklists for school use
  • adapt department resources for their school's context.

This professional learning aligns with the following Standards:

  • 6.2.2 Participate in learning to update knowledge and practice targeted to professional needs and school and/or system priorities.
  • 6.2.4 Initiate collaborative relationships to expand professional learning opportunities and provide quality opportunities and placements for pre-service teachers.
